High Tea with Vir Sanghvi at Tian

Vir Sanghvi, as we all know is an Indian Print and television Journalist, Columnist and Talk Show Host. He is a true inspiration to many Foodaholics, in the country, like me.

EazyDiner, organized High Tea with Vir Sanghvi at Tian, an Asian Cuisine Studio, ITC Maurya. The opportunity of meeting Vir Sanghvi and Star Head Chef at Tian, Vikramjit Roy, in person, was large and rare.

Here is how my Experience was at the Event --

Mint Leaf, Sushant Lok

Mint Leaf, is located walking distance from the IFFCO Chowk Metro Terminal. Its situated in the Centre Point Mall, Gurgaon.

Started by Chef Raminder Malhotra who has experience in 5 star Hotels, launched his very own family oriented restaurant.

Romantic Rendezvous - Uzzuri Deli & Bar

Located in the heart of the city, Uzzuri Deli & Bar, flaunts to be the next favorite hotspot. Recently opened in Connaught Place - Janpath, this little restaurant is a perfect place for romantic rendezvous for locals as well as for travellers.

Ambiance --

The interiors are warm, pleasing and vibrant. Each corner has a story of its own. The posters talk of some history, there is a colorful map on the wall using Google Maps, which is fun to look at. Victorian upholstery with modern lamps and minimalistic furniture sets the tone fresh and clean. The warm hospitality is seen instantly when you enter, makes one comfortable and at ease.

Taste of India - Indian Grill Company

Recently launched on the Outer Circle of Connaught Place, is a unit of Swagath Group, named Indian Grill Company which hopes to tempt the taste of India. A casual dinning serves only buffet, high tea, unlimited servings of authentic Indian Food and is considered to 'give value for money.'

Ambiance --

Simple wooden themed two floor restaurant. As soon as you enter there are few tables placed with a Live Kitchen and the second level has the Bar section. The interiors are elegant, walls have artistic paintings. Each table has a small grill section, which when not in use, is covered by a wooden frame.

Food Talk -- 

I was here with a group of food bloggers and we decided to sit on the second level of the restaurant. Buffet usually is placed on this floor. So, as soon as one is seated, the servers hand you the menu to order a refreshing drink. Lemon Mojito, was the only drink I could think of to freshen me up from the humidity that day.

Soon when everyone arrived, we started with the Grilled Items and few Drinks from the Menu. The Names of the Items, Description, Ratings and Pictures are enlisted below :-
  • The Grilled appetizers have a good variety. Fish - Flavorsome and had right spices. Even though it was not fried, yet had a balance of spices. Kebabs - Minced meat, were interesting. Murg Malai Tikka - Chicken Tikka, delicious and a melt in your mouth. I am sure with the Non Vegetarian being so good, the Vegetarians also must have enjoyed their offerings. Rating - 4.5/5
  • Virgin Mojito - Served in a small slim glass. Mint and citrus flavor is all you need to freshen you up on a hot summer day. Rating 4/5
  • Mai Tai - A mix of white and dark rum in orange, pineapple with some grenadine. Grenadine makes the the cocktail extra sweet. Rating 3.5/5
  • Singapore Sling - Gin with cherry brandy, pineapple juice and a dash of grenadine. This was classic. Rating 4.5/5
  • Lime Margarita - Margarita's on Monday's sound super! *Kidding* Tequila, with two parts triple sec. and lime juice. And the brim of the glass is coated with Salt. A summer gathering which started with Mojito and then Margarita. Rating 4.5/5
  • Thyme after Thyme - A watermelon based cocktail with thyme and white rum. Watermelon with thyme gave it a very calming flavor. Rating 4/5
  • Spicy Chicken Wings -  Spicy, juicy and tender. Rating 4/5
  • Buffet -- Huge variety of authentic Indian Food. The display included ; Subz Methi Pulao, Steamed Pulao, Dal Tadka, Dal Makhani, Kadhai Paneer, Khumb Hara Pyaz and Achari Baingan. Among the Indian, were two items from the Chinese menu ; Noodles and Manchurian, which is normally enjoyed by kids. I enjoyed Subz Methi Pulao, bitterness of methi mixed well with rice. Both Dal Tadka and Dal Makhani, were light, not very creamy and the spices were apt. Kadhai Paneer, Khumb Hara Pyaz were well cooked. I had two servings of the buffet and my tummy was full. 
  • Biryani - A small pot of biryani was placed at the table. It had small meat balls with little cheese. Made from the in house spices, Biryani, here is a winner. 

Dessert --

No matter how much you eat, there is always, always room for Dessert. At Indian Grill Company, the choice is wide.
  • Gulab Jamun - Soft and Juicy. A perfect dessert. Rating 5/5
  • Moong Dal Halwa - Rich and famous in North India. Green gram cooked richly. Two spoons of this Halwa in a bowl, is how one can end their meal. It is mouth watering. However, for me it was a bit too rich. Rating 3/5
  • Phirni - Its a classic Indian Pudding and is a must, must have. Rating 5/5
  • Chocolate Mousse - Velvety and smooth. Rating 3/5
  • Steamed Mango Pudding - This pudding is seasonal and is made on the availability of the fruit. I did not enjoy much of this. Rating 2/5

Overall, a wonderful lunch with bloggers. Staff is courteous and service is quick.
